Prophetic Traditions
إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَيُمْلِي لِلظَّالِمِ حَتَّى إِذَا أَخَذَهُ لَمْ يُفْلِتْهُ
“Indeed, Allah gives respite to the wrongdoer until, when He seizes him, He does not let him escape.”
This demonstrates the might of Al-'Aziz—His power is irresistible, and no wrongdoer can escape His grasp.
Scholarly Insights
Al-'Aziz means the One who possesses all might, so He is never overcome. He overcomes all things, and all creation submits to His greatness and power.
Al-'Aziz encompasses three meanings: might of strength so He is never weak, might of conquest so He is never defeated, and might of status so there is none comparable to Him.
Supplications
اللَّهُمَّ أَعِزَّ الإِسْلامَ وَالْمُسْلِمِينَ
Allahumma a'izz al-Islam wal-Muslimeen
“O Allah, grant honor to Islam and the Muslims.”
Living With This Name

Seek honor ('izzah) only through obedience to Al-'Aziz, not through worldly status.

When the oppressed seem helpless, remember that Al-'Aziz never lets the wrongdoer escape forever.
