لا يَرْحَمُ اللَّهُ مَنْ لا يَرْحَمُ النَّاسَ
“Allah will not show mercy to those who do not show mercy to people.”
Ar-Rauf's kindness is a model for believers—those who show kindness and mercy to others receive His kindness in return.
Scholarly Insights
Ar-Ra'uf is the One whose kindness is gentle and subtle. While Ar-Rahman indicates vast mercy, Ar-Ra'uf implies a tenderness and compassion that prevents hardship from reaching His servants when possible.
Supplications
رَبَّنَا لا تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِن نَّسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا رَبَّنَا وَلا تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنَا إِصْرًا كَمَا حَمَلْتَهُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِنَا
Rabbana la tu'akhidhna in nasina aw akhta'na, Rabbana wa la tahmil 'alayna isran kama hamaltahu 'alal-ladhina min qablina
“Our Lord, do not take us to account if we forget or make mistakes. Our Lord, do not place on us a burden like that which You placed on those before us.”
