Scholarly Explanation

The one who protects and preserves what He created and whose knowledge encompasses all that He brought into existence. The one who protects His friends from falling into sins and the destructive matters. The one who is kind to them during their periods of activity and rest. The one who accounts the actions of the servants and their rewards.

And Iblis did prove true his thought about them, and they followed him, all except a group of the true believers. For Iblis had no authority over them - except that We might test him who believes in the Hereafter from him who is in doubt about it. And your Lord is Hafiz over everything.

[Saba' (34): 20-21]

He said, 'How will my trusting him to your care be different from entrusting his brother before?' However Allah is the best Hafiz.

[Yusuf (12): 64]

Prophetic Traditions

If something befalls you, do not say: 'If only I had done such-and-such, then such-and-such would have happened.' Rather say: 'Allah has decreed and what He wills He does.' For 'if only' opens the door to the work of Shaytan.

Trusting Al-Hafeez's protection means accepting His decree and knowing He allows only what is in His wisdom.
