Scholarly Explanation

He is the one who is singled out in all aspects of perfection such that nothing else shares with Him in these. It is obligatory upon the servants to single Him out alone in belief, saying and action by acknowledging His unrestricted perfection, His uniqueness and singling Him out alone for all types of worship.

'O two companions of the prison! Are many different lords better or Allah, al-Wahid, the Irresistible?'

[Yusuf (12): 39]

Say: He is Allah, al-Ahad.

[al-Ikhlas (112): 1]

Prophetic Traditions

Whoever testifies that there is no god but Allah alone with no partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, and that Isa is the servant of Allah... Allah will admit him to Paradise.

The testimony of Allah's oneness (Tawhid) is the key to Paradise, affirming Al-Wahid's uniqueness.

Scholarly Insights

Al-Wahid negates any plurality in Allah's essence, attributes, or actions. He is One in His lordship, One in His right to be worshipped, and One in His names and attributes—none shares in any of these.
